YAMUNDRA INDOOR BADMINTON ACADEMY
The Pemasiri Indrajith Memorial Indoor Stadium was inaugurated on April 20, 2019. The reason for giving the stadium this name is that his mother, Mrs. Yamuna Hettiarachchi, suggested her husband’s name for the stadium in memory of Mr. Prabhash Indrajith’s father. Based on that, construction began on the stadium, which was completed within a year.
Hon. Rohitha Abeygunawardena, Member of Parliament (2020), Minister of Ports, Mr. Sanjeewa Ariyaratne, Chairman, Kalutara Pradeshiya Sabha, Mr. Leelananda Perera, Member of the Panadura Pradeshiya Sabha and Mr. Chandralatha Fernando were present at the opening ceremony.
Veteran announcer Kelum Shramal officiated and Prabhash Indrajith played the first blow of the match. The first match was played by Chetla Milsara and Chanul Vihaga of Yamundra Badminton Academy. This is in the only one badminton complex in this area.
